Please don’t take this hard…but your stuff blows. Looks like your company rolled out of bed in 1996, made some decisions about messaging and a logo, and kept right on rolling. It’d be pretty funny were it not so bad for those big goals of yours.
And while I’m at it; you know what’s weird? I know why. I know exactly why your branding is so bored it wants to shoot itself.
Here’s the deal: There are three decisions that you forgot to make. I get it. It was the nineties. Whatever the reason you simply missed this one…But, the good news is that is that you can make these decisions now. THERE IS STILL TIME!
Here are the three most important decisions to make about your market position that will set you free, help you create something relevant, unique and totally bad ass:
- Decide that you don’t need everyone to like you. I know, I know, you weren’t taught that. You were taught a good market position attracts the largest market. Turns out that approach is a freeway ride to Vanilla Town. Pick a niche and own it.
- Decide that your industry isn’t where you look for inspiration. WHAT? Yes, it’s a shocker. Paying attention to your industry for what you need to be saying, looking like, or offering clients is simply the best way to snatch irrelevance from the jaws of uniqueness. Your industry is ten years behind.
- Decide that you’ll risk it all to tell your truth. Sounds like a dangerous choice. It is. But the best brands out there take chances. They stand for something. They get noticed because they stick up for their worldview and let em rip. We define brand as “the truth packaged to its’ best advantage.” Take that and run with it.
Here’s my obligatory send off remark: It’s time for you to rise up like Rocky against that big Russian. Rise up! Make it happen and do it now. Your business is very likely a whole lot smarter, more relevant, and more vital than your website, logo, or other collateral make it seem. But how would anyone know that today?
